Lady Slipper

Lady’s slippers always seem to be rare and untouchable. Appearing in the woods in early summer they thrive in the shade of the trees at my parents’ cottage and then vanish until the following year. I enjoyed trying to capture their bulbous shapes and delicately veined petals with minimal brush strokes and blending of colour. Clusters of them among the low mossy growth of the woodland floor have a surreal and serene quality.
