A quiet morning at the government wharf in Mill Cove led to this study of the pattern of reflections on cold dark water. Patterns within patterns began to take form and eventually led to shapes that put me in mind of the work of Norval Morrisseau. Natural forms became stylized geometric shapes repeating themselves. The solid mass of the boat, buoyant and light on the water, is tethered amid the moving ripples by lines gone slack. I love painting water.
